We got in this morning a little late, around 8 instead of the original 5 but actually that worked out better. Flew thru customs, of course going back will be a different story. Got the car-a little surprise there because of the cost of the insurance. You have to buy it. American Express doesn't cover 6 countries in the world and Ireland happens to be one of them.
The country is really 40 shades of green. Stopped at one of their shopping centers to get some fruit and such. All the produce with a few exceptions is packaged. The prices were about what we pay at home. Lots of Irish cheese-guess that explains all the cows and sheep.:)
The castle is amazing. You have to see it to believe it. Over 410 acres of gardens, lakes, forest, castle. We walked around this afternoon, after a short nap. Trying not to sleep too long today so we can get on local time.
The water in the lake-loch for the Irish out there-is as clear as glass. You can look all the way to the bottom. Still learning about the history of the castle. If you want to look at it on line it is the Ashford Castle.
Decided on room service this evening, I know, I know, it is a tough life, but someone has to live it.
We are thinking about a boat ride tomorrow and possibly falcons, plus more walking around looking at all the wonderful plants and trees. There are trees here that have to be 100's of years old. Still aren't sure how many days we are going to stay on the grounds.
Had our first pub stop. What fun. Several of the locals were there. They are having a duck race similar to the great duck race in Champaign. You can buy a duck for E10. Then on Monday the horses run. They only run once a month. Six races in all. I like the horse track. Everywhere you go someone is having a lotto.
