Why?

Why do we do things to our family we would never do to strangers? Why do we take offense when none was intended? Why do we suppose actions/words have to have a "hidden meanings" or "hidden agendas"? Why do we do these things? Why???

Why can't we take things at face value?

Wow

Ok so, maybe I didn't exactly post the pictures the way I wanted, so next time will be better. I promise.

Hot in Memphis

So summer is here, it is hot and muggy, but I like the summer. I keep telling myself that when all my clothes stick to me. However, my flowers are gorgeous. Becky helped me mucho this spring. She single handedly weeded all my front beds. Yeah Becky. When I was in OK, my weeds returned with vengeance. However, I think I have identified the culprit. Nut grass, it seems that the more you pull it up the worst it gets. There are 2 nuts ( yes 2 nuts) on the roots. Even when you pull all the plant up-which it the way you get rid of most weeds-the nuts sometimes stays and instead of one weed you now have 2. Hence all the weeds in my front bed. The good news is, and article in the paper today telling me how rid my self of this pest. I have fought this monster ever since I have lived here.

Greg is going to be in the newspaper The Commercial Appeal, on July 7. The article is going to be in the fitness section. It is all about his mountain climbing for Summit for Someone. They took a lot of pictures of him "climbing" the tread machine with his pack. The incline on this machine is really steep so he puts on a 45 pound pack and away he goes. Hopefully, the article will generate contributions to Summit for Someone, and some little kid will get to go to the mountains for the week. I think all in all Greg was kinda embarrassed. For those of you who know Greg, he really doesn't like "being front and center". Next year, he wants to be a counselor for one of the camps.

Had my sewing class last night. What a nice group of ladies. I have 3. Two are about Jenn's age and the other is a very poor 14 year old girl. I feel very sorry for her. If I could I would give her another sewing machine. The one she is working on is very old and in very poor condition. But she has a passion for wanting to sew and hopefully I can help her fulfill that passion. Her grandmother's mother used to make quilts and she-her name is Rebecca by the way-wants to do the same. There may be some fabric from my stash going her way. The other ladies are very sweet and want to learn home decor.

I am taking a quilt class myself. It will be my first. I know, I know I already quilt, so why am I taking a class? Well, because I am self taught and I might be able to learn better ways to do things.

Wow, I think I just downloaded flowers to my site. All by myself. Jennifer and Becky should be proud.

Guess, I need to quit "talking" and get busy. I have to get "stuff" for the house among other things today.

Bye

Oklahoma and home

Wow what a whirlwind trip. Got back from OK Thursday the 19th. My flight was delayed all the way, but no biggie. I ended up home a couple of hours later than I thought, but got a Wonderful massage from a gentleman in the Tulsa airport. If I hadn't been delayed, I wouldn't have had the time for it. They had a massage station set up right across from my gate. Really relaxed my shoulders. Not the same as at home, but it really helped.

I went on strike when I got home. I didn't cook, clean, pay bills, go through the mail-nothing until Monday. Of course by that time Greg didn't have any clean underwear, poor man. He was down to his last pair.

So, Monday dawned and I am still trying to get caught up. Decided to take a break from the bills and write awhile.

What a great bunch of folks live in OK. I was able to visit with all the brothers and wives. Stayed the first 3 nights at Howard and Alecya's, which is where I was supposed to be, but the bed at their house was not kind to me. So,....I slept at George and Wendy's and went in the early afternoon to H & A's to help. It worked out really well. Abby-Howard's oldest girl, couldn't say my name-so I am Seesa.

I got to know G & W and their kids. Awesome kids. Played Hero with Caleb, which is just a shorter version of Horse. I think we ended up tided at the end. It was really fun playing basketball.

Then one day Howard and Alecya weren't home, so we picked wild blackberries all the way home. Got over 6 cups-George made us a cobbler that night that was delicious .

G & W rescued a little puppy from the dump. Moca is her name, what a sweet puppy.

I could go on and on about my trip, but won't, suffice to say, it was a grand success!!!

Oklahoma here I come

Ready or not, here I come. Getting ready to go to OK to help out Howard and Alyeca with the new little one. The quilt I made for the new baby turned out really cute. I had gotten a "cheater" quilt and embellished it with stitching-know as quilting.

Don't have a lot of time-so I need to go. May not post much in the next few days. I don't know if they have internet access. So...

Sew On

People amaze me.I had a lady that wanted to meet this afternoon so she could get a price on upholstering 4 cushions for her chairs. They are box cushions with zippers and piping LARGE cushions for mission style chairs. I quoted her $75 each-my gosh I thought she would have a heart attack. Her husband said go ahead and have them done. She just kept on and on about how EASY they were to do and she could buy new chairs for that price. If it is so dang easy-then you do it. People think that you should work for slave wages when you sew. I gave her another place to go too, she will find out I am very reasonable-of course by that time, I may be too busy to do them-wicked laugh at this point.

There was another lady that sews standing there and listening to all this. After the people left she agreed that my price was quite reasonable.

Oh, well so goes the life of the seamstress.

Sunday in Memphis

Yesterday we were planning on going to church today,but......I worked on Thursday, Friday and ran all day on Saturday, so today is not a good day for me. Oh well......

We tried to set up a blog for Greg, but I think we did something wrong. guess we will have to access our tech support-read kids-to get it set up.

Having Ben, Angel, and Chris over for burgers later. Should be fun. Wish we had more kids around to invite over for dinner....oh well...

Trying my hand at the jewelery business. I made a bracelet last night only to have it fall apart when I went to put it on. Found out, you have to glue the knot, slide it into a bead and let it dry over night.

What a fun day

So today is Saturday. One of my most favorite days. Usually it is a day that Greg and I do basically whatever we want to. Greg went and worked out bright and early this morning-makes me feel like a slug sometimes-then came and woke me up with shining eyes and coffee. "Get up, get up" he said. "There are garage sales ALL over this morning. Let's go." I drug my bleary self out of bed-knowing once I got started I would feel better-and took off with my honey. We had so much fun, buying junk we didn't need-but thought we did, getting all kinds of produce from the farmers market-the popcorn lady WAS NOT there even tho she told us she was there "every week", had lunch and sat all afternoon in the movies.

Iron Man was a good movie, and wait for the video for Indiana Jones. I can't believe we sat and watched 2 movies in a row.

Came home and had a wonderful "summer supper". Fresh green beans, grilled summer squash and cold chicken.

Called the Thomas household yesterday. They are all sick.:(. I wish I were there to take care of them. Tucker and Ryan had been sick earlier so Jenn figured it was a matter of time.

Becky and Brad are on there way to CA today.

I still wish I could say "Beam me up, Scotty."

All in all a wonderful day. Yeah, me.

New baby in Ok.

The new baby in Oklahoma came on her own schedule. She arrived on Tuesday, instead of Friday. All is well. She is 7# 8 oz. Her name is Alanya Junie. Mom and baby are resting fine. They are coming home today.
