howdy

I always hate to title my entry because I never know where it is going to take me. I know, I know I can always go back and change it but seems like I post before I remember I was going to change it.

Changed jobs-if you can call playing with a hobby you love work- to another quilt shop closer to home. I didn't change because of the distance, but because of the attitude in the shop. I had more fun in the first day at the new place, than I had the entire time at the other one. The staff is super friendly, extremely talented and very helpful.

They just started selling Berninas recently so they were glad to have me and I was glad to be there. Quilt shops tend to mimic the owner both in the color and flavor of the fabrics and just in the over all feel of the place. The old place-while they had pretty fabrics-the fabrics or the shop just didn't fit me. Very quiet and demure-LOL, certainly doesn't sound like me, huh? Like the owner they were very muted and didn't "show" up. The new place has my wild prints, loud colors, cool batiks, my kinda place. Working 2 days a week, but the owner told if she would have me working 6 days if I were able. I just laughed at her and she smiled. They plan on me doing a lot of teaching-which I love. I think I was a teacher in another life. I have always enjoyed it and seems like where ever I go that is what I do.

Loving living near the kids. It's really nice to get to see your daughter every few days or in some times hours. Tucker and I are having a wonderful time. He has turned into quite the baker. He wants to know the "why" of everything. It's lots of fun.

I am hoping pretty soon Finley will be ok with spending the night with us. We haven't tried naps yet because all we have is a pack and play and Jenn says he doesn't always sleep well in one. I'm sure Jenn and Ryan will be happy for that day as well. Then they can have an entire night to themselves and can stay home if they choose. We gave them a 3 day pass for Christmas. When they take us up on it, we will probably stay at their house at night and come back home during the day.

Jenn started school again. I am so dang proud of her. It takes a lot to go back to school with a husband and 2 little ones at home. Soon she will be a nurse, May will be here before we know it. Now I have someone to take care of my medical needs when I get old. LOL. She has told me she won't put me in a nursing home which I am very grateful for. Hopefully, I won't ever have any thing that would require a nursing home such as dementia.

Had a medical procedure done last week and the nurse stuck me 3 times before she was able to get an iv started. I am a hard stick anyway but when I am dehydrated it is even worse. Fear not, it was just for a look around my throat and tummy for my GERD. Excitement, excitement in a few more weeks I get a colonoscophy. The prep is horrible.

We have a couple of things in the water for businesses. Two of them are for home inspection. They are both good but for different reasons. Pray we will make the right decision.

Another year

Wow, another year already. It really is true, time seems to go faster as you get older. Not quite sure why.

I feel like this is going to be an awesome year. God allowed us to move to Jersey so He must has pretty cool things in store for us.

I am on a mission to learn how to make naan. For those who don't know what that is, it is an Indian flatbread. Not Native Indian, India Indian. My first batch was much too thick and didn't have the right flavor, my second batch last night has the right flavor, but I rolled them out too thin. You have to have a really hot oven to make them and then they baked in mere minutes. I almost burnt the first batch. Thank you family for eating that batch anyway. Tucker lead the way. He munched them for me. Thanks Tucker. He also helped rolling them out. He's getting pretty good in the kitchen. He and I have a lot of fun there. Mostly, we have baked.

It doesn't take very long to get used to having family around. I was very glad to see the Thomas family come home.

Finley is so cute. He just started talking, a lot. Before you couldn't hardly get 2 words out of him, not he is talking up a storm and he is very clear. I understand mostly what he says. Tucker helps out a lot. He seems to know what his brother is saying.

Greg's "vacation" is over. He is seriously pursuing a source of income for us. He may take a job and then later we will get our business. Or maybe the other way around. Who knows?Anyway, we had our fun 6 months and now it is time to get serious.

Am going to work for a different quilt shop. I really didn't fit in the last one. Very excited. Start on the 17th.

That's all.

Stuff

I am having so much fun living here among the kids, both my older kids and the little ones. So nice to be just 5 minutes away. Makes it really easy to just see everyone on a whim.

Tucker has turned into quite the little baker. I have a stand up mixer and have shown him how it works. The last time we baked, he was telling me all the safety rules!

When we first started baking he wanted to do all the measuring, but since he has been "trained" on the mixer....well you know what he wants to do. It does make the process go a little faster with me doing the measuring, but baking with him does take a little longer which is ok with me. I am having so much fun with him.Snickerdoodles were our last cookie to make. We looked on line to see where the name came from, they don't really know. It has its base in German but that's about it.

Getting him from school today to make a gingerbread house. I bought a kit this year. Last time he was over, we went thru everything we had to augment the supplies that came with the house. Depending on how the house goes, we may do cut out cookies as well. I plan on making up the dough this morning so it's chilled this afternoon and take a little time out of the process.

Finley is such a cutie. Right now I don't think he feels very well, so he wants Mom a lot. He loves to watch nursery songs with Greg on the computer. I'll look around and Greg has them both on his lap watching songs. So cute!!

Both of the boys like to do duplos at our house. Duplos are legos answer to blocks for little hands that can't yet grasp the little tiny lego block. We have quite a collection going.

The weather here has been great so far. I think God is easing me into the winter this year. I am sure the snow and wind will come soon, but I'm going to enjoy it while I can. I would have liked a white Christmas but don't think it is in the cards.

Jenn and I got a massage yesterday. Ryan had found a great deal on them and he and Greg got them for us. Jenn was very relaxed when she came out. I think it was just what she needed.

Wegman's

So, we went back to Wegman's this afternoon. I need to change my earlier theory. They are not in fact as cheap as the alternatives. They are cheaper on certain things, but as a whole, not. Plus they don't have any apples just for eating. All their apples are the kind that should be baked. No Fuji, no delicious, no pink lady, jazz, honeycrisp..... Who does that????? However the rest of their produce is good.
I love being in NJ around my family each and every day. The ability to see what is happening in their life daily is wonderful. Watching the grandkids change and grow. Seeing my daughter and son in law in a wonderful loving relationship. Actually, I think more of Ryan as a son, but if I posted it that way, you all would think that a little weird.

Becky helped me fix my blog. Somehow it is tied to an old email with a new email password. As Ryan put it-the strangest things happen to you. Jenn and Ryan would have helped me as well, but I forget to ask them when we are together.

Got a job at a quilt shop. I know everyone is surprised at that. Things are going well there. The people are really nice and the shop is cool.

Going to Wegman's today. It is an awesome grocery store. If they haven't got it, you don't need it. Last time I went, I got the most juiciest flavorful grapefruits I have ever had. After comparing prices with the other local stores for me, they are not any more expensive than the others. If my grocery mix was different they might cost more.

Becky Quilt

I made this quilt for Becky a long time ago and now I am using the picture as a test for my blog.

Moving

wow, we are finally getting to go to NJ to be with daughter, son in law and grand kids. I still can hardly believe.

I am a firm believer you should move every 5 years just to keep all your stuff cleared out. We have already had 1 garage sale and are thinking maybe another before we leave. How do 2 people accumulate so much stuff??? Well, some of it we are holding for some of our kids-you know who you are.

I had forgotten what all entails moving. Went into overload this weekend, but am better now. Our official move date is July 5 & 6. Because of the cost, we have decided to do the majority of the packing ourselves.

A guy at Greg's office just moved here and lo and behold he wants to get rid of all his moving boxes. Wardrobes, mirror, and dish packs. Hallelujah. He even has paper. Figured our boxes would be a mix of liquor, fruit and assorted junk boxes. In addition, our moving company has some used boxes they are giving us and another friend has some for us as well. When you have 13,500# of stuff you need all you can get.

Pray for me that I can get it all done-cancel everything and get everything all hooked back up. I know that Greg will be a packing fool. He can get that kind of thing done in no time. I don't know how he does it.

The bad news is that we can expect our stuff to be there any where from the 11th of July to the 20th. Let's pray that it is sooner than later. It's because we don't have a full truckload like last time. We moved a car last time and filled the truck. This time they will put someone's else stuff with ours and whoever is first in the geographic gets their stuff first. Maybe the second person is moving to Maine.

Back to the paying of the bills.
